Manali draws couples for pre-wedding shoots because it packs so many different landscapes into a small radius — snow-capped peaks, pine forests, apple orchards, and old wooden villages, often all within a 30-minute drive of each other. Here's where we usually point couples, and when each location actually works.
Old Manali & the apple orchards
The lanes around Old Manali, especially through the orchards near the Manalsu river, give you soft green backdrops and warm, dappled light through the trees. This is a reliable pick for most of the year, but it's at its best from March to May when the apple blossoms are out, and again in October when the leaves turn.
Solang Valley
Solang is the location for couples who want the big Himalayan backdrop — open meadows with snow-covered ranges behind them. In winter, it doubles as a snow shoot without needing to travel further up. The trade-off is that it's more exposed to weather, so mornings tend to have better light and calmer crowds than afternoons.
Naggar & the castle road
The stretch around Naggar Castle is quieter than central Manali and mixes old Himachali architecture with valley views. It suits couples who want a more rustic, heritage feel rather than an alpine one — wood-and-stone textures, terraced fields, and slower-paced light through the day.
Sethan & the higher meadows
For couples who don't mind a short trek, Sethan sits above the tree line with uninterrupted mountain views and far fewer people around. It's a good option specifically for sunrise or golden-hour sessions, since the light hits differently once you're above the valley haze.
Jogini Falls trail
The walk toward Jogini Falls near Vashisht gives a mix of forest, terraced fields, and a waterfall backdrop for a few frames near the end. It works well as a second location later in the day, after a morning session somewhere more open.
When to plan it
- March–May: orchards in bloom, comfortable temperatures, best all-round window
- June–August: greenest landscape, but expect monsoon showers — build a backup plan into the day
- September–November: clear skies, golden light, and the leaves turning in October
- December–February: snow shoots at Solang and higher points, but shorter daylight hours to plan around
Access and conditions at higher points like Sethan can change with weather and season, so we always confirm the exact route closer to your shoot date.
